It seems like page speed is on people’s minds right now. Just judging on the number of requests I have received to optimize sites for page speed, I’d say that people are starting to pay a lot more attention to page speed and why it matters.
Why the sudden interest in page speed?
One reason, of course, is that last summer Google finally admitted that page speed is an important factor in search results. In other words, page speed is a factor in where you land on the search results for Google.
Now really page speed has been a marker for a long time and we have known that, but a few years back mobile browsing actually passed up desktop browsing, so speed became a more noticeable factor in user experience.
Line two, come on Joli
So with mobile devices becoming more popular now than desktop devices, speed, especially over a mobile network, has become a major marker in page quality which of course has a huge effect on search result placement.
